Be Picky About Your Acupuncturist

Most people think that every practitioner who says they're certified to give acupuncture treatments are the same. Did you know that there are different degrees and training available to get the same license to practice acupuncture? For example, Chiropractors can get a license to practice acupuncture with 100 hours of training. Same with M.D.s, and P.Ts. A Naturopath is licensed to practice acupuncture and their Doctorate is a four-year training program.

The path to get a degree in Chinese or Oriental Medicine can take a few routes. A four-year Master's program is required, that's the minimum training offered. Above that, there's a one-year or a two-year Doctorate. The Doctorate isn't required to obtain a license to practice acupuncture. The Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree used to be a two-year program. Now it's changed and one may receive a Doctorate by completing a one-year program.

Dr. Anne completed a four-year Master's degree plus a two-year Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. That's the highest education in her field. (It's also rare to find.)
